Community dinner provides a way to help families heal

NAPLES, Fla – (Sept. 29, 2017) –Many Collier Charter Academy school families were affected by Hurricane Irma as it roared through. To help build community and provide a hot meal, Principal Kim Zambito, her staff and L’Appetito II are hosting a spaghetti dinner for school families Friday night, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.

“We’ve all been through so much in the past couple of weeks, we thought it would be helpful to bring our school community together over a hot meal,” said Zambito. “Our friends at L’Appetito II have generously sponsored a significant part of the meal and our families who are trying to rebuild will have an opportunity to share time with others who are going through the same things. It gives them a chance to not have to worry about feeding their children for a night and they can just relax and enjoy each other’s company.”

Collier Charter Academy experienced minimal damage during the storm and opened the same time as the Collier County district schools.

“Sometimes, it’s the hard times that help us develop unbreakable bonds,” added Zambito. “I am overwhelmed with the kindness and support our families have shown to each other and we wanted to show them that they are appreciated and cared for too.”
